PUNO

The department of Puno is located in the South Eastern of Peru. With a surface of 72382km2, a population of more than one million inhabitants gathered mainly in the high cities of the mountains. The capital is Puno, located at 3827m by the shore of the Titicaca Lake. The other principal cities are: Juliaca, Azangaro, Huancané. The dry mountain climate dominates, with an annual average temperature of 9ºC, sometimes reaching 2ºC during the winter. The main cities of access for Puno are Arequipa (5h bus) and Cusco (6h bus).
