04 DAYS

First Day: Cusco-San Pedro
At 6:00am we depart from Cusco to Paucartambo. This tour will visit the Chullpas of Ninamarca. We have breakfast on the road. After visiting the colonial town in Paucartambo and its famous bridge called Carlos III, we continue our journey and begin an ascent back up the ridge to Ajanacu (3550m), and then start our descent to San Pedro, arriving at approximately 4:00pm and spend the nigh on a platform.

Optional: Descent by bike from Ajanacu to San Pedro.

Second Day: San Pedro-Pilcopata Huacari
We start early at 5:30am. We can see the Cock of the Rock very early and then have breakfast later at 7:00am. Continuing the journey to Pilcopata, we enter into the Upper Amazon, where you can see monkeys, higueras and palms, as well as medicinal plants. We’ll also see many secondary forest plantations with local crops: coca, pineapple, cassava, etc. Later, we arrive in Pilcopata for lunch and an afternoon visit to the native community of Huacaria. We spend the night in a basic hostel in Pilcopata.

Optional: Rafting from Pilcopata to Atalaya.

Third Day: Pilcopata-Atalaya Amazon Lodge
After breakfast, we take a bus to Atalaya and then a motor boat to the other side of the Amazon River to the the Amazon River Lodge, which is in a primary forest. In the afternoon there is a hiking excursion to see giant trees, ants, chopper fish, fourteen types of hummingbirds and also climb to the lodge’s observation tower, where you can appreciate choro monkeys, and other species. Tonight we camp.

Fourth Day: Amazon Lodge-Cusco
In the morning, we take a motor boat back to Atalaya, where the bus will be waiting to take us back to the city of Cusco. We arrive at 9:30pm.
