PERU ADVENTURE TOURS ECOLOGICAL - 10 DAYS

Itinerary:

Day 01: Lima
Upon your arrival, we escort you to the selected hotel. The afternoon is kept free to acclimatize, though you may opt to take the Lima City Tour.

Day 02: Lima-Cusco-City Tour
After breakfast, we go to the Lima airport and fly to Cusco. We are received with an escort to the hotel and a welcoming cup of coca tea. In the afternoon, at 1:30pm, we take the Cusco City Tour, visiting: The Cathedral, the Museum of Koricancha, and the archeological zones of Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. We return to hostel at 6:30pm for our 7:30pm briefing with the guide about the trip for the next day.

Day 03: Cusco Manu Cultural Zone
We have an early morning pickup in private transportation. We head through valleys and picturesque communities, and later visit the pre- "Chulpas" Ninamarca graves. Half-way through our journey, we pass through Paucartambo, a typical colonial town and then continue on up to Acjanacu at 3850m, before we start a descent into the cloud forests, an area rich in endemic species such as: spectacled bear, cock of the rock, orchids, bromeliads, ferns, and so on. You will spend the night in an outdoor platform in St. Pedro.

Day 04: Manu-Cusco
Early you can appreciate the interesting courtship dance of the Cock of the Rock, Peru's national bird. Then we continue by bus through the high jungle, arriving at the town of Pilco leg, and then the port of Atalaya, at 700m. From here we take a motor boat along the river to see an amazing diversity of birds: herons, hawks, and cormorants, etc. We arrive at the private reserve, Erica, where we’ll spend the next two nights. This day you can also choose to go rafting or bicycle.

Day 05: Manu-Cusco
After breakfast you take the boat five minutes across the Madre de Dios River and walk for thirty minutes on a trail that is great for observing and talking about the interesting flora, like the sensitive plants, heliconias, orchards, etc. Later we arrive at Machawasi Lake where we will use a telescope to observe birds, such as herons, tucanets carpenters, red crests, etc. You can also take a canopy tour from here.

Day 06: Manu-Cusco
We breakfast and take a ten minute boat ride to the collpa, a wall of clay along the river where the different species of parrots: blue, red, parakeet, and possibly the macaw maracano, among others, descend each morning to eat and lick the pieces of clay minerals necessary for their dietary balance. Then we return to take the bus back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 10:00pm.

Day 07: Sacred Valley (optional)
This day is reserved for free time to engage in personal activities.

Day 08: Aguas Calientes Cusco - Machupicchu 2 days.
After breakfast we transfer to the San Pedro Train Station to take our four-hour direct trip to the town of Aguas Calientes, the last settlement at the base of Machupicchu. The trip is very comfortable with beautiful landscapes and nice mountains on-route. Upon arrival, we settle down in the hostel and take the rest of the day to freely roam around the village or go to the hot springs. You can also climb Mt Putucsi, where there is an impressive view of Machupicchu. In the evening, we have dinner and a briefing with the guide for the visit to Machupicchu.

Day 09 Machupicchu - Cusco
We make an early start to take the first bus or to walk up to Machupicchu. At the ruins, we enjoy a three-hour guided tour of the most important parts of the ruins, and then you’ll have free time to climb Waynapicchu or simply stroll around the areas that interest you in Machupicchu. We return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (optional), and at 4:20pm take the train back to Cusco or Ollantaytambo, arriving at approximately 8:20pm in Cusco and returning to the hotel.

Day 10: Cusco-Lima
Depending on the time of your flight, we provide you with a ride to the airport to return to Lima.
