12 Days

Itinerary:

Day 1: Airport / Lima Hotel
Pick up and transfer to selected hotel. Welcome Pisco Sour (national drink). Rest of day free.

Day 2: Lima Tour / Pisco, Paracas
We will have an early breakfast at 7am before we start our tour of Lima Capital visiting the most important tourist attractions of the city such as the Cathedral, San Francisco Convent, Santo Domingo convent and the Government Palace. Also we will see modern Lima with its impressive buildings in Miraflores, San Isidro and its beautiful beaches. At 1.30pm we will take our Cruzero bus to Paracas to settle into our hotel. Pick up and dinner. Duration of bus is 3 hours.

Day 3: Ballesta Islands / Ica Wineries / Huacachina Lagoon / Nazca
After breakfast we will visit the most important zone of this area: The Ballesta Islands. We will board our motor boat accompanied by our guide and group. On the island we visit we will be able to appreciate Sea Lions, Humboldt penguins, Dolphins and more than 200 species of migratory birds during our two hour tour. Upon arrival back to Paracas we will continue our tour to Ica City, 45 minutes south. This city is known for its Pisco and great productions of wine and famous Peruvian Pisco. We will have lunch in a typical countryside restaurant. In the afternoon we will have the opportunity to visit artisanal wineries, Huacachnina lagoon and finally, at 5pm we will take our transport for two hours to Nazca. Pick up and transfer from terminal to hotel.

Day 4: Flight over Nazca Lines / Nazca City Tour / Arequipa
We will start today early with our transfer from our hotel to the local airport for a short talk before getting on the plane and flying over the enigmatic Nazca Lines for 40 minutes. After we finish our flight we will start a tour of the most touristic attractions the city has to offer such as the Chauchilla Cemetery, artisanal ceramics processes and artisanal gold fabric. We will finish this off with a typical Peruvian lunch. We have the afternoon free for shopping and at night we will take our first class bus to Arequipa in a trip of approximately 10 hours. Pick up and transfer to Hotel.

Day 5: Arequipa / Tour through the White City
We start our day with a free morning to acclimatise to the altitude. After lunch at 2pm we will start our City Tour visiting the main tourist attractions of Arequipa such as the Cathedral and the Santa Catalina monastery amongst others. Around 6.30pm we will arrive to our hotel and receive a briefing regarding the next day.

Day 6: Colca Canyon / Chivay Arequipa
After a 7.30am breakfast we will head out to the Colca Valley (3587 m) on a trip of approx 4 hours (private transport). We will have the chance to appreciate beautiful landscapes such as the Misti Volcano, the Chachani and the habitat of the vicunyas in the zone. After ascending to 4,600 m we will start our descent and arriving to the little town of Chivay (3,600 m). Here we will have lunch and settle into our hostel. The rest of the afternoon will be free with an optional visit to the La Calera thermal baths which is located 2 kms from Chivay town.

Day 7: Chivay / Condor Viewpoint / Arequipa
After a 5.45am breakfast we will continue our town trough the Colca Valley. We will have to opportunity to appreciate the beautiful landscapes. We will pass through Cabanaconde and finally arrive at the Mirador del Condor where we can enjoy a spectacular view of the canyon and of course the famous flight of the Condor. After enjoying this beautiful place with its amazing views of the of the canyon and Condor flight we will head back to Chivay. In Chivay we will have lunch and start our journey back to Arequipa city arriving approx 5.30pm. Information will be given tonight regarding your journey to Cusco.

Day 8: Arequipa / Flight to Cusco / Cusco Tour
Early transfer to the airport for our flight to Cusco. Upon arrival we will be picked up and transferred to our selected hotel where we will receive a welcome cup of coca tea. This morning will then be free to acclimatise. At 1.30pm we will begin our city tour visiting the most important tourist attractions of the city such as the Cathedral, Koricancha museum and the Inca Ruins of Sachsayhuaman, Qenqo, Pucapucara and Tambomachay. We will return to our hotel around 6.30pm.

Day 9: Sacred Valley of the Incas / Cusco
Around 8.30am we will be collected from the hotel (or in indicated place) in order to start our tour of the Sacred Valley. We start off in Pisaq (2950musl). During the trip we get the chance to visit many places of interest such as Corao market and special look out points in the Valley. Upon arrival to Pisaq we will visit the central market (it is also possible to visit the ruins of the same name). We will then continue through the Valley passing through the annexes of Calca and Lamay until we reach Urubamba (2871musl) where we will enjoy a pleasant buffet lunch in a typical tourist restaurant. We will then continue through the Sacred Valley until we reach the Inca Ruins of Ollantaytambo (2792musl). Here we get a chance to visit the Arqueological Park accompanied by our guide. Finally we will start heading back to Cusco stopping in Chincheros (3780 m) where we will visit the colonial church and also the indigenous market. We will arrive back to Cusco around 7pm.

Day 10: Cusco / Aguas Calientes
At 6.30am we will be picked up from the Hotel in private transport and taken to the train station. From here will travel approx 3 ½ hours until we reach the town of Aguas Calientes (2350 m) (Machu Picchu). Upon arrival we will be mat and transferred to our hotel. Optional afternoon hike to the highest hill of the zone: Putucusi (2457 m). From this point we can appreciate an impressive view of Machu Picchu (2400 m) and its valley surrounded by impressive mountains. Accommodation.

Day 11: Machu Picchu / Cusco
Early around 540am we will take our bus up to Machu Picchu (30 minutes). Upon arrival to the ruins we will have a guided tour for approx 2 hours visiting the most important sites of Machu Picchu. Afterwards we will have time to maybe climb up the second mountain of Wayna Picchu (20 m). Please note that we have to be in Aguas Calientes at least half an hour before our train departs. Arrival to Cusco around 9.30pm and transfer to our hotel.

Day 12: Cusco Airport / Lima

Breakfast and transfer to the airport for return journey.
