ICA INFORMATION

The department of Ica ( 400msnm ) is very famous for the vast countryside and the quality of wines and Pisco. Ica is the birthplace of pre-Columbian cultures Nazca and Paracas. Ica is a Quechua word meaning " water emanating earth" by the immensity of the desert and the city was founded in 1563 by Jerónimo Luis de Cabrera in 1633 is recognized as a city.

Altitude : The department of Ica has an altitude of 400 above sea level.
Extension : The department has an overall area of 21 337.83 km2.
Population: 712.938 inhabitants according to the last census.
Provinces: The Department has 5 provinces , Pisco , Chincha , Ica , Palpa and Nasca. Ica is known as the "city of eternal sunshine ."
