INCA TRAIL TO MACHUPICCHU

5 Days

Itinerary:

First Day: Cusco- Chillca-Llactapata
Early in the morning, we pick you up from your hotel to go to the Incan Sacred Valley. We arrive in the town of Chilca to begin our hike, assisted by baggage carriers who carry the gear throughout the entire route. After a four hour hike, we camp on the banks of the Urubamba River.

Second Day: Llactapata-Llullucha
After breakfast, we begin our trek to Llulluchapampa, crossing Q'euña forests, which are trees native to the Andes. We camp in Llulluchapampa.

Third Day: Llullucha-Phuyupatamarca
After breakfast, we continue hiking to Warmiwañuska, which is the highest part of the trek at 4200m. Then, we’ll descend to Phuyupatamarka to camp.

Fourth Day: Phuyupatamarca-Machupicchu
After breakfast, our trek descends. We lunch on the road and in the afternoon, arrive to Intipunku. From here we descend to Aguas Calientes, where you will stay in a nice hostel in the Aguas Calientes village.

Fifth Day: Machupicchu - Cusco
In the morning, we visit the Lost City of the Incas, Machupicchu, on a tour of three hours. We then have time free to explore the ruins on our own before heading down to Aguas Calientes for lunch and to take the 4:20pm train back to Cusco. Transportation to your hotel is provided.

  • Briefing the night before with your Inca Trail Trekking Guide and other the passengers
  • Local, professional, English / Spanish speaking guide (2 guides for groups of more than 12 people)
  • Private transportation round-trip
  • Entrance Tickets to the archaeological sites of Machupicchu and The Inca trail
  • Bus ticket from Machupicchu ruins down to Aguas Calientes village
  • Train ticket from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo and bus to Cusco
  • Transfer from the train station to your hotel in Cusco
  • Double tents and mattresses
  • Camp gear: Tent bathroom, kitchen tent, chairs, tables
  • Cook
  • 01 night in a hostel in Aguas Calientes village
  • Porters to carry group camping equipment, but not for passengers personal gear
  • All meals (breakfast is included the 1st day, though lunch is not included on the 5th day)
  • Accommodations for our porters and chef

We recommend:

  • Sleeping bags (Rentable from our office)

  • Hiking Boots
  • Waterproof poncho (covers backpack with less leaks than separate covers for you and your bag)
  • Drinking water, flashlight, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses

NOTES:

Extra Porter: You may need an extra porter in the case that you have gear in excess of the camping gear and your personal items.  The price is $100.00 for a porter to carry a maximum of 15 kilos. Also, you can arrange for a half-porter, whose services cost $80.00.

Important: If you wish to employ the services of a porter, you need to arrange it the same day you make your reservation for the Inca Trail. It’s impossible to do this after you arrive to Cusco.

Rent a sleeping bag: If you cannot bring, find, or buy a sleeping bag for the Inca Trail, it’s no problem. You can rent a high quality, down sleeping bag for $25.00 for the 4 day trek.

*NOTE: To make your reservation for the Inka Trail, a non-refundable trek deposit of US$200 and an email notifying us of this deposit must be received by our office. The remainder of the tour price must be paid at our office a minimum of two (2) days before departure. Failure to pay in full before the deadline will result in trip cancellation.
