TREK TO CHOQUEKIRAO, THE LOST CITY
4 Days

Itinerary:
First Day: Cusco – Cachora - Chikisca.
We leave from Cusco at about 6:30am in private transportation for the town of Cachora, about four hours away. Here, mules are awaiting our arrival to carry our group camping gear and food. We have a midday lunch and then begin our trek, hiking to our first camp in Chikisca. To reach the camp, we have a nice, easy, four-hour walk to stretch-out and enjoy the landscape along the Apurimac Canyon, the longest tributary of the Amazon River. (Lunch/Dinner)
Second Day: Chikisca – Santa Rosa – Choquekirao.
After a good breakfast, we begin trekking. This is our hardest and longest day of the trip. Later, after a break to stretch, we arrive at the Apurimac River for lunch. After lunch we trek on to Santa Rosa where you get to try a typical drink of the region, cañazo, made from a sugarcane base. We continue to the Lost City, Choquekirao, and arrive around 1:30pm for lunch and the rest of the time is for exploring the area! We have dinner in camp nearby. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Third Day: Choquekirao - Chikisca
Breakfast is had early and, if the weather is good, we can reach Choquekirao in time to see the sunrise in this beautiful, magical place. We prepare our gear and begin the trek back at approximately 9:00am and descend to Rosalina Beach. At the beach, we take a swim to freshen up and have lunch at a family restaurant. After a break, we have a short walk to close our day in Chikisca. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Fourth Day: Chikisca – Cachora - Cusco.
After breakfast, we continue our trek, ascending to Cachora by midday. After lunch and a refreshing couple hour break, we return to Cusco by about 6pm in private transportation. (Breakfast/Lunch)
