WHITE WATER RAFTING IN THE APURIMAC RIVER

Itinerary:

First Day: Cusco Huallapachaca Camping at Las Paltas
At 9:00am, we meet the group at the private bus and ride to Huallpachaca in the Apurimac River valley. It’s a journey of approximately four hours. Lunch will be served when we arrive and then we’ll prepare the gear for rafting. The guide will give a safety explanation, then we’ll hand-out equipment. Everyone will have a helmet, neoprene suit, life jacket, and windbreaker. We will raft for about two hours, practicing on class II and III rapids. We’ll arrive at the first camp (L/D) and, after dinner, receive our briefing for the second day.

Second Day: Camping the Silver-Camping at La Mesa
After a good breakfast and stretching, we will start rafting. This day will be the longest, lasting about six hours and running class III - IV+ rapids, all the while enjoying the beauty of the canyon. Finally, we will arrive to the next camp on the river where we’ll have a campfire, dinner, and the next day’s briefing (B/L/D)

Third Day: Camping officers - Bridge Kunyac - Cusco
Today we will start early. On this section of the river, we will run Class V rapids, depending on the water level, and for security reasons we will portage over two areas that have class VI rapids. After four hours of rafting, we will reach our final destination and have a great lunch on the bank of the river. Finally, we’ll head back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 4:30pm. The same evening, we will meet as a group to watch a video of the trip.
